Thankfully, I got my definition of ‘colophon’1 corrected, so I thought I’ll correct this to shift from information about me to Geekaholic.
But a brief relation between me and the name is always in the offing. I (and a lot of my friends) consider myself a geek. Interested in all things web and tech, I spend a lot of time ‘geeking-out’, reading, watching movies and sit-coms when I’m not building or designing something. I’m almost addicted to the Internet, and this is sort of like my journal / scrapbook.
The content
“Geekaholic” is the next level for me. It’s a personal space of opinions, interesting links, some small how-to’s and a general testing bed for projects that I might take up / work on. But most importantly, it gives me a place to write about things I like. I’ve been writing since the 8th grade, for things like the school magazine and local dailies, and consider stimulative writing one of the fading arts. Newspapers and magazines feel like they’re written to be ‘bought’. Fortunately, the Internet doesn’t suffer from the commercial restrictions of those mediums. Blogging for money is a different thing, which is something I don’t do. I write for the love of writing, and to get my point across. And Geekaholic gives the context as well as the content — “Geek” being the context (geek-y subjects), and “holic” being the content (addictively and passionately written).
This is definitely more than a simple blog. It’s my way of contributing to the world of the written word, while I try to maintain a level of quality and standard which I hold myself to.
Geekaholic is built/maintained using Photoshop, TextMate, and Wordpress. Don’t leave home without them :) It is also XHTML 1.0 (Transitional) as well as CSS 3.0 valid (with a few warnings), so if it doesn’t work properly in your browser, you can rest assured that your browser sucks, not my markup and design (that means you, IE).
You can contact me on GTalk/Jabber and MSN. Mail me your details and a reason, and I’ll get in touch with you as soon as I can.
